Using one of the industries most widely accepted software programs, Water Rat Marine Survey is equipped to perform and provide comprehensive marine surveys to his clients in a timely manner. This survey provides the necessary documentation to provide the bank, the insurance company, or simply for piece of mind.
Accreditation
The Rat is a graduate of CHAPMAN SCHOOL OF SEAMANSHIP YACHT AND SMALL CRAFT SURVEY.
All surveys are conducted according to standards set forth by the AMERICAN BOAT and YACHT COUNCIL, and the CODE of FEDERAL REGULATIONS, enforced by the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD.
Why "THE RAT"?
The Rat has been messing about in boats for some time now and he's a life long boater. He knows what it can be like out there, because he's been out there. He has the combination of experience & resources to derive an accurate "condition" and "fair market value" for your vessel of interest! In addition to his hands on experience, he has toured many boat building facilities, and attended countless seminars and workshops.

The Rat was one of the first Marine Technicians in Northern Michigan to obtain the status of "A.B.Y.C. CERTIFIED MASTER TECHNICIAN"?. Combined with over 40 years experience repairing, maintaining, building, enjoying, & improving boats. He has become expert in marine electrical and most all systems. He has also been accepted by the SOCIETY of ACCREDITED MARINE SURVEYORS as an ACCREDITED MARINE SURVEYOR. All of this comes comes together when inspecting a vessel for you!

**The Rat is currently NOT performing surveys on inspected vessels or steel hulls.**
The "Walk-Away Policy"
Stop spending money on a boat you don't want! WRMS starts the survey process where trouble is most likely to be found. Should major problems be detected early on, we can abort the survey following a brief consultation, and refund a portion of the survey fee (often 50% or more!).
